Curved oak staircase
Solid oak treads along a curved wall of oak veneer, with a white handrail. We laminated the curve from twelve layers in the workshop.

Zaan facades re-boarded
Two wooden gables in Zaan green, with new overlapping boards in the original profile and cream trim. Four weeks of work, and the scaffolding came down just before the blossom arrived.

Window seat in the bay
A bay window that used to stand empty is now a reading nook. A window seat with drawers underneath, between two bookcases that run up to the ceiling.
Since 1991
Father and son in one workshop

Willem Kuijpers learned the trade from his own father, who was a carpenter at one of the last sawmills on the Zaan. As a boy he was already standing among the shavings. In 1991 he started on his own, in an old timber shed in Zaandam where we still are today.

In our customers' words
Our old staircase was so steep the children went down it backwards. The new oak quarter-turn staircase fits the same opening but is far nicer to use. Jesse showed us a 3D drawing beforehand, and that is exactly how it turned out.
A cabinet under the sloping roof, from corner to corner. Not a centimetre has gone to waste.
The weather side of our wooden front was completely worn out. Willem remade the boards in exactly the same profile. The neighbour asked whether it was really new.

Questions about bespoke work
What does bespoke work cost?
More than a shop-bought cupboard, less than many people think. A built-in cupboard starts at around €3,400, an oak staircase at around €3,950. After measuring up you get a fixed price.
What is the lead time?
Usually six to eight weeks after you approve the drawing. In spring, when everyone wants to renovate, sometimes a little longer.
Can I visit the workshop?
We would love that. On Saturday mornings you can come by appointment to see woods and finishes, and the staircase we happen to be working on.
Do you do small jobs too?
Yes. A shelf in an alcove, a sticking door, a new stair tread. We fit small jobs in between the big projects.
Something special in mind?
Send a photo and a few measurements and Jesse will come round to measure up. The first design is free.
