Twelve projects from our workshop

From a reading nook in Koog aan de Zaan to a complete attic in Wormerveer. Each photo tells you what we made and from which wood.

Curved oak staircase

Solid oak treads along a curved wall of oak veneer, with a white handrail. We laminated the curve from twelve layers in the workshop.

Zaan facades re-boarded

Two wooden gables in Zaan green, with new overlapping boards in the original profile and cream trim. Four weeks of work, and the scaffolding came down just before the blossom arrived.

Window seat in the bay

A bay window that used to stand empty is now a reading nook. A window seat with drawers underneath, between two bookcases that run up to the ceiling.

Solid oak kitchen

Oak fronts with glass-fronted cabinets, drawers with cup handles and a tall panelled cupboard. The worktop is stone, all the woodwork came from our workshop.

Bookcase wall around a door

Floor to ceiling, built around the doorway and sprayed off-white. The shelves are 27 millimetres thick, so they don’t sag under more than 1,400 books.

Smoked oak herringbone

Smoked oak in herringbone, glued down over underfloor heating and finished with a brushed oil. Sixty square metres in four days.

Hanging space, glass-fronted drawers and open compartments, cut exactly to the size of the alcove. Five days in the workshop, one day to fit.

A floating oak desk with a light strip, and cupboards with fluted fronts above it. Working from home in an alcove 1.40 metres wide.

Double doors recreated

In a town house from 1912 the old doors had been removed at some point. We recreated them in the original profile, with panels and carving, and stained them dark to match the rest of the hallway.

Two front doors in varnished wood for a block of flats in the Amsterdam School style. Recreated from the original, with the triangular leaded glass panes.

An attic with old trusses

This is how the attic looked when we started: trusses from around 1890 and wide pine floorboards. We repaired the trusses and kept them, and the floor was sanded and oiled.
